The Office of the Consulate of Jamaica – Houston is open to serve the general public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The office is closed on Wednesdays.

Passport Renewal
While in the United States, Applications for Jamaican passports can only be processed by submittal to the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, DC, or to one of the Consulate General Offices, as listed below:

For passport renewal, an Application form must first be obtained. These forms can be obtained from the office of the Consulate of Jamaica – Houston, the Embassy, or from one of the Consulate General offices listed above.

To initiate the the approval process, the Application Form must be completed and submitted to the appropriate Consular Office, or the Embassy with your expired passport, two (2) identical color photographs one of which must be certified by the Certifying Official who signs Section F (photos are not to be stapled or paper clipped to the form), and a certified copy of birth certificate. Where applicable, the following documents should also be sent: A) Certified copy of Marriage Certificate B) Certified copy of Death Certificate C) Certified copy of Adoption Register D) Divorce Judgment. For minors, parents/guardians ID (along with letter of guardianship for the latter) should also be sent. Photocopies of documents will NOT be accepted. All Documents submitted with applications will be returned.

Applicant’s signature must remain in box provided. The thumb print box provided is for use only by persons unable to sign their names.

Certification: (see section F) can only be done by a Consular Official or a Notary Public.
Validity: Adult passports are valid for 10 years, minors for 5 years. Since passport forms are sent to Jamaica for processing, extra care is recommended in completing the form to avoid undue delay.

The Consulate General of Jamaica accepts only Money Orders and Cash (Do not send cash in the mail). Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted. The processing time for Passports is six (6) weeks.

Tourist Travel
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship Required
• Passpod required of naturalized U.S. Citizens
• Tickets and Documents for return or onward travel
• No visa required for stay up to six months
• Vaccinations - None Required

o Certificate of Naturalization is not accepted following 9/11/2001. U.S. Passport must be presented
o Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen

Note: A Voter's Registration Card does NOT constitute proof of U.S. Citizenship. Acceptability should be checked with the airline carrier. Persons using a Voter's Registration Card may be subject to extensive questioning on return to the U.S by Immigration Authorities.
